This took me a little while to really pinpoint which kind of music really fit for him; I had an idea, but finding something that catered to both Elijah's half-apathy, half-fire was a little harder for me. So, after scouring through my music collection (which still isn't complete at 1,300+ songs 😭), I really love "Footsteps" by Pop Evil and "Still Counting" by Volbeat.

I'm only going to break down the first one because it's a bit longer than I intended/wanted it to be. (':

So this one is more about dealing with your personal demons and being appreciative of the things you do have rather than the things you don't (source).

"Starting over once again. This is where it all begins, it's right in front of me; down is not where I belong, this aching heart won't turn to stone..."

Elijah grew up without having his father around; he's a completely unknown person to him. As a result, he has had to move around a lot until he and his mother (verse dependent) finally settle in a new town, where he is seemingly starting over for the last time. Typically that's about where Elijah's story really starts, give or take a few years. With that being said, he decides against letting it drag him down or make him cold like other people (although, he still has his sarcastic/apathetic moments).

"I know only time will tell if all the cards will treat me well, 'cause this hand that I've been dealt keeps me wondering. So now here I turn the page, I've learned to silence all my rage."

He knows it's only a matter of time before he sees how everything really falls, for better or worse, and he's sort of on edge because he knows how it's gone every time in the past. Whether he has to start over yet again (endless cycle) or if he'll be able to obtain a degree in automotive technology like he wants. Eli wants this to be a fresh start if he's going to have to start over, so he attempts to leave the past where it lies and steady/quiet his own emotions (rage, disappointment, loss, etc.).

"Tell me who can really say, what will tomorrow bring? I feel like waking up, I've had this dream before."

With these lines, it's signaling that he's learning (or has learned) to take a step back and not get worked up about what might or might not happen in the future. He wants to face that reality of the unpredictable and cope with it better; he has "had this dream before", meaning that Elijah had looked to the future a lot as a kid (probably in reference to his father returning one day, finishing his education, stable housing, etc. — basically expectations that he's put on himself/his life).

So I've been listening to Lights Off on repeat and I MAY have a few favorite animation scenes-

I had two songs that I had a hard time choosing between for Billy, so this is actually the other part of this question that I received.

The song is "Father of Mine" by Everclear. I've been sitting on this song for him for a while now; I've always really loved this song but after watching Stranger Things and encountering Billy, there's a whole other reason to add to the list.

I really feel like this would be more toward his mother, at least at the beginning (in reference to being the "golden boy" and "back before you went away", which in this case, would be a reference to her abandoning him). It's also fitting because I'm sure she took him out to movies, lunch, the park, etc. (and, most notably for Billy in the canon material, the beach). The line, "Take me to a place inside that is so hard to reach," would indicate that she could always reach that part of him that he had to suppress, the part of him that wasn't allowed to be vulnerable (particularly in front of his father, Neil).

And, of course, these lyrics later on (TW under the cut for abandonment and abuse).

The first line, "Tell me, how do you sleep? With the children you abandoned," is fitting because later on, once Billy had been killed, Neil divorced Susan (Billy's step-mother) and abandoned her and Max. Additionally, Billy was a witness to the physical (and emotional + mental) abuse that Neil put his biological mother through, fitting the next lyric.

Then, it leads into the lines, "I will never be safe, I will never be sane," which can be a nod toward Billy not feeling mentally okay or being able to escape those memories, which are much worse than what they can show just based on what I've seen others mention from the "Runaway Max" book (also, side note, but if I get my hands on that book, I'm definitely going to do a break down for Billy). In the book, Max apparently also mentions that Billy is "broken" and implies he's becoming like Neil, so that's another way those lines would fit into this.

Hi again! I have another question, what music theme would you think onyx will have?Like those themes that start playing after Steven and a gem fused, or like Smoky quartz, sardonyx, Opal and stuff. Also, In the next page, will Steven realise that he forgot Jasper? And also can you Imagine Jasper being soft around Steven? Sorry if it’s to much questions, I’m just so obsessed with this AU!

That song that plays in Future called "The Day Montage" is definitely their fusion dance song. The metal version of the We Are The Crystal gems has the guitar and drum set that works for Onyx.

Steven's chiptune mixing with Jasper's drums and synth effects makes a metal/ rock combo of electric guitar and drums.
